Billing FAQs:
Why did I receive two statements for my procedure?
If you have a procedure performed at Acadiana Surgery Center, you
will receive two statements. One is the facility charge and will
be received from Acadiana Surgery Center and the other is the physician's
charge and will be received from Iberia Gastroenterology Associates.
Why did I receive a bill from a pathologist?
Sometimes during the course of a procedure Dr. Stokes finds it
necessary to take biopsies or remove polyps. When specimens are
taken during a procedure, they must be sent to a pathologist for
examination. If this happens you will receive a separate bill for
the reading of the biopsy. If you have any questions about that
bill, please call the appropriate lab and they will be able to answer
any billing questions.
I was quoted a price before my procedure, but now I am getting
a bill that states I owe more money for my portion of the bill.
Why is the price different than the one that was originally quoted?
Unfortunately, we are only able to estimate your portion of the
bill based on the information provided by your insurance and the
procedure ordered. Sometimes, during the course of a procedure,
Dr. Stokes may find it necessary to remove a polyp, take a biopsy,
or lengthen the extent of the exam based on his findings. This may
increase the cost of your procedure. Therefore, the amounts quoted
by our office prior to your procedure are only estimates.
Why is my copayment more for my procedure than the usual
copay I pay for my doctor's visit?
Your procedure is considered an outpatient surgery, so benefits
are different. Please review your manual or contact your insurance
company for details concerning your outpatient surgery benefits.
This is not considered an office procedure, therefore, office visit
copays do not apply.
Why did I get a bill from Birmingham, Alabama?
All bills for Acadiana Surgery Center and Iberia Gastroenterology
Associates are processed and generated from our offices. The Birmingham,
Alabama address is for an outside bank that we are contracted with
to receive our payments for ease of deposit. We ask that you remit
all payments to that address.
